2021 Great Lakes Regional Championship Recap

Creighton Quidditch won the collegiate division, and Boom Train won the club division at the 2021 Great Lakes Regional Championship November 6-7, 2021.


15 collegiate teams competed at the Great Lakes Regional Championship, which took place at Voice of America MetroPark in West Chester, Ohio, on November 6-7, 2021. Collegiate teams participated in a pool-play format into a stacked bracket for 15 teams to determine the collegiate regional champion and the six collegiate teams who qualified for the 2022 US Quidditch Cup. 

Creighton Quidditch won the collegiate division with Michigan Quidditch Team as runner-up. The score for the championship match was 240-100 (26:56). The game was officiated by head referee Michael Clark-Polner, and the snitch runner was Justin Barnard. This is Creighton’s second regional title, after winning the Midwest Regional Championship earlier this fall. Michigan was the defending regional champion from the 2019-20 season.

Three club teams competed at this event, a one-day double round-robin format on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Boom Train won this division, and Ann Arbor Army Ants was the runner-up. All scores are available on the USQ website. Here is the list of competing teams in the order of their final ranking.

West Chester hosted the last Great Lakes Regional Championship in 2019, and it was a thrill to be back competing at the Voice of America MetroPark. We would like to thank the Butler County Visitors Bureau and MetroParks of Butler County for their continued support.
