USQ and MLQ stand together in promoting ways to take action in our country today. We encourage you to use your voice, time, or actions today to help make a difference.

  1. Register to Vote
  2. Request a Mail-In Ballot
    1. You can vote from the comfort of your home by requesting a mail-in ballot to be sent to you for this November’s election. Check with your state to learn more on how to request one.
  1. Pocket Democracy: Engage with the government from the palm of your hand
    1. It’s as easy as downloading an app. 5 Calls and other political apps now allow you to take action from anywhere. 5 Calls will provide the phone numbers, scripts and a background on the issues. You can even track whether you spoke with someone in person, left a message or couldn’t get through.
  1. Donate to or sign a petition for a cause that resonates with you
    1. Black Lives Matter
    2. Athlete Ally
    3. Me Too.
  2. Reflect on the meaning of this holiday and its significance to our country’s racist history
    1. What to the Slave is the 4th of July by Frederick Douglass
    2. 13th - currently streaming on Netflix
    3. Unlearning Racism: Anti-Racist and Equity Resources - compiled by Brandi Cannon, USQ diversity & equity coordinator
  3. Volunteer
    1. While in a time of social distancing in-person volunteering may not be possible, but explore what virtual opportunities you can help with! Check with your local government officials and see if there are efforts for reminding people to vote that you can help with. Reach out to a local non-profit and see if they need help with any projects they are pursuing. Even an hour of your time can go a long way.
