The #savequidditch fundraiser successfully raised over $60,000 in two weeks.
In mid-April, USQ announced an urgent fundraising appeal to raise money for our operating expenses over the coming months. The initial goal was $30,000, which was met in just 6 days. Through the support of over 500 people in the quidditch community, we have raised $63,029 through donations, memberships, and merchandise.
“I am so humbled by how supportive and generous everyone has been,” said USQ Executive Director Mary Kimball, “Thank you so much. USQ is much better equipped to get through these trying times due to everyone’s support.”
All donors who contributed to the #savequidditch fundraiser will be recognized on the Donate page of USQ’s website. Donors will be contacted directly over the next few days to confirm how they want to be listed.
The winner of the team registration contest, sponsored by USQ Board Chair Hank Dugie, is The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Quidditch. They registered 22 players by April 30.
USQ is participating in GiveBIG Washington next week. GiveBIG is a fundraising event for nonprofits across the state of Washington, part of the broader #GivingTuesdayNow campaign of philanthropy. Our goal is to raise $1,500 for youth quidditch next season, specifically for a pilot program to test out our PE curriculum in school districts across the country.
