USQ Update

New USQ Staff Members Announcement

Meet our new volunteer staff members that joined USQ this past month!

We are so excited to welcome three new volunteers to the USQ team this past month! If you see them at any upcoming events please say hello to them! We still are recruiting for individuals to join our team, so if interested please visit our long-term volunteer opportunities page.

Lily Neumann, Social Media Coordinator, Communications Department

Lily Neumann graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in english in May 2019, in addition to receiving a teaching license (grades 5-12) from the state of Iowa. During her times as an undergraduate, she co-founded the Iowa Quidditch Club and served as the team's first president from 2017 until her graduation. Neumann currently plays chaser for Chicago United Quidditch Club, but remains living in Iowa City, where she works for University of Iowa Parking & Transportation and continues to grow the sport in the state. She recently connected with other alumni from the Iowa State University and University of Iowa teams to form the group Quidditch in Iowa, which is dedicated to supporting the existing teams in the state, starting new teams, hosting youth quidditch events, and connecting the local community to the quidditch community. Neumann has previously held lead assistant referee, coach, and tournament director certifications through USQ, and is excited to get more involved in the organization as social media coordinator! She's looking forward to working with other USQ volunteers and staff to promote the sport and teams within the organization.

Kristin Ladia, Development Coordinator, Office of the Executive Director

Kristin Ladia is a proud Florida native and Florida Gulf Coast University alum with dual degrees in bioengineering and software engineering. Ladia has been involved with quidditch since 2013, first playing for FGCU and currently for Terminus Quidditch Atlanta. An AI engineer by trade, an analyst by nature, and a beater by heart, she loves bringing ideas to life, from AI products and tools to quidditch fundraisers and events. She looks forward to supporting the growth and expansion of USQ as a development coordinator.

Samantha Huston, Event Volunteer Coordinator, Events Department

Samantha Huston is a young professional who just moved to Washington, DC. Originally from rural Utah, Huston has been involved with the west coast and Utah quidditch communities for four years, and the east coast quidditch community for one year. She has worn many different hats over the years during her quidditch career: as a tournament director, a player, a manager, a referee, and in MLQ. She decided to volunteer with USQ to stay involved in the sport without participating as a player. While Utah and the west coast community are still dear to her heart, Huston is happy to be part of the east coast community. She looks forward to exploring quidditch in this new capacity!
