Alexia Barnes joins USQ as West Regional Coordinator

Alexia Barnes has joined USQ as West Regional Coordinator.

US Quidditch is excited to announce that Alexia Barnes has joined the team as the West Regional Coordinator, filling the vacancy left by Jessica Ward’s resignation earlier this summer.

Barnes started playing quidditch in 2011 at the University of South Florida, where she was the team captain. After moving to California, she joined the Long Beach Funky Quaffles, serving as a player and team manager over four years with the team. The past two seasons, Barnes has worked as a tournament director for several events throughout Southern California. Barnes has a master's degree in applied behavior analysis from USF and spends her non-quidditch time playing beach soccer, watching college football, and spoiling her dog.

Jessica Ward stepped down as West Regional Coordinator this summer after moving out of the region last season. Ward has served the region in this role since early 2017, but feels that she is now too far removed from West teams, and that the region would be better suited by a regional coordinator who can be more active in the community.

The current regional coordinators are:

  • Matt Dwyer: Great Lakes - Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky
  • Erik Morlock: Mid-Atlantic - New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina
  • KT Quasarano: Midwest - Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin
  • Christian Barnes: Northeast - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont
  • Kym Couch: Northwest - Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming
  • Grace Weidemann: South - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee
  • Chris Choquette: Southwest - Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas
  • Alexia Barnes: West - Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah
