Information on team registration for USQ regional championships and circuit events are now available. Details on team registration for US Quidditch Cup 13 will be available in October. However, some general information is also posted in this article.
The hotel request form for USQ regional championships was originally scheduled to be available on Tuesday, September 17 (tomorrow). Due to some delays with the hotel contracting process, we will be releasing it for fall regional teams next week and spring regional teams the week after. The form for fall regional teams will be posted by Friday, September 27. We will email team contacts in those regions as soon as possible with the final date and time. The form for spring regional teams will be posted by Thursday, October 2.
We apologize for the delay. It’s primarily to give us more time to negotiate lower hotel rates with some of our partners. Rates will most likely be between $80 and $125 a night, excluding tax.
Information on hotels will be posted on a rolling basis over the next couple of weeks on the Team Registration page for regional champiosnhips.

Questions about the team registration process for USQ events should be directed to email@example.com.
There is not an additional cost to member teams to attend a USQ regional championship or circuit event. It is included with the cost of team and player memberships.
Collegiate teams can attend one (1) regional championship per season, the one held in their region. Teams can apply for a regional transfer waiver here. Please note that in order to protect the efficacy of the bid distribution system, regional transfer requests must generally be submitted by September 30 at 11:59 pm ET. For teams registered by September 30, any regional transfer request submitted on or after October 1 must be based on new information the team received following that deadline.
Club teams can attend multiple circuit events per season. More information on the club division structure is available here.
Full information on team registration for these tournaments is available here.
A tracking spreadsheet for USQ event registration and membership requirements is available here. It tracks the following things for teams:
From September 3-November 8, event requirements will be updated once a day, Monday-Friday, by 8pm ET. From November 11-January 3, it will be updated twice a week. From January 6-April 6, registration information will be updated once a day, Monday-Friday, by 8pm ET. Membership requirements are updated on a similar schedule, though referee tests will still be updated on a more frequent basis in November and December.
Additionally, there is a seperate tracking spreadsheet for teams competing at official events here. This spreadsheet has tabs for each weekend in the season that has official events. It lists out what teams are competing at which events, and the status of their gameplay and membership requirements needed in order to be eligible to compete officially.
The registration process and requirements are very similar for collegiate and club teams.
As mentioned earlier today, we are seeking feedback from club teams on where they would like to have circuit events this season. An email will be sent out to all current club teams as well as club teams that were official members in the 2018-19 season by Thursday, September 5 with additional information about specific planned circuit events and a survey for initial interest from teams. The specific dates and locations for these events will be finalized by the end of September, to allow for input and interest from team. Club teams attending a USQ circuit event can expect to have the same registration deadlines as the regional championship the circuit is being held at.
The following items are required:
The following items are optional:
Teams must also complete the membership requirements listed here to be eligible to compete officially in all events, not just USQ hosted regional and national championships.
For a team to compete at a USQ regional championship or circuit event, it must be registered for the tournament at least 3 weeks prior to the event (2 weeks for Northeast). Please note that the stay and play exemption form is due 5 weeks before an event (4 weeks for Northeast) and that the hotel request form must be filled out 4 weeks before an event (3 weeks for Northeast).
For collegiate teams, all season play requirements must be met at least 2 weeks prior to the event. For club teams, there are no season play requirements for circuit events.
As we mentioned above, the schedule of club circuit events will be available at the end of September. The stay and play exemption form is due for all teams in the Northeast and Great Lakes on Thursday, September 26. Club teams who think they might qualify for an exemption for one of these two events should go ahead and fill out the form by that same deadline.

Teams are required to stay a minimum of two nights at a Stay and Play hotel. Booking will open on Tuesday, September 17 at 5 pm ET. We are currently finalizing room blocks with hotels, and information on rates will be available over the next couple of weeks. Teams can expect to pay between $60 and $125 a night, excluding tax.
Teams wanting to stay at the cheapest hotels are strongly encouraged to fill out the form as soon as it is posted, as the hotels are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Filling out the form is risk free; teams do not to be ready to book their rooms at that time. Club teams are welcome to fill out the form as well, even though the list of USQ circuit events won’t be available until the end of September.
Information on the registration process will be available in October. As with previous seasons, the deadlines will be based on when a team qualifies, split up into three groups: fall, spring, and at large. Club teams who earn an auto-bid will have registration deadlines based on the date of the event they got the auto-bid at. The registration fee will be $450 per team.
As mentioned in June, we are looking into airline partnerships for US Quidditch Cup to lower the flight costs for attendees and make it easier for folks to get into Charleston, West Virginia. This has an ongoing project for the events department this summer.
Later this fall, we will have more information on travel for this event, including a guide for teams on how to book flights.
