USQ announces an update to the collegiate enrollment policy.
Effective in the 2018-19 season, the collegiate enrollment policy has been updated to require enrollment verification twice annually. USQ has previously only required collegiate players to submit enrollment once per season, with the caveat that coaches are not permitted to roster players whose enrollment status changes from enrolled to not enrolled during the course of season. Due to multiple instances of teams attempting to circumvent this honor policy, all collegiate players will now be required to submit enrollment in the fall, prior to participating in an official game, and again after January 1, 2019. All collegiate players will need to re-verify their enrollment, even if their original verification shows year-long enrollment.
All currently enrolled students, including graduate students, may play for a collegiate team as long as they provide valid proof of enrollment. There is no minimum credit hour requirement for a player on a collegiate team and a collegiate player does not have to be in a degree-awarding program. A non-playing certified coach does not need to be a student at that institution. Playing certified coaches must follow the same enrollment eligibility requirements as other players. Referees and snitch runners fulfilling team officiating requirements do not have to be currently enrolled students.
In the 2018-19 season, players on a collegiate team will still submit proof of enrollment to firstname.lastname@example.org. The documentation must be either official proof of enrollment from their school’s registrar or an official class schedule season showing the player’s full name, the full name of the school, and the term of enrollment. Additional forms of proof of enrollment may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
