USQ Events Department Adds Two New Members

Effective immediately, Amanda Perry and Carrie Soukup join USQ’s Events Department as Tournament Director Support Coordinators.

As Tournament Director Support Coordinators, Amanda Perry and Carrie Soukup will provide support to official events and tournament directors, especially in the area of policy compliance, and work in conjunction with the rest of the Tournament Director team in the Events Department, which also includes long-time USQ staff member Logan Anbinder.


Perry started her quidditch experience in 2012, at the first Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship (MARC) as a general volunteer. She has worked several tournaments since then, including World Cup 6, MARC in 2013, and World Cup 7 in 2014. She is in her third year as a certified tournament director (TD) and has led seven events on her own, primarily with California University of PA and Steel City Quidditch Club. When she isn’t not doing something quidditch related, she likes to spend time with her two cats and take online classes for a veterinary nursing program.

Soukup began playing quidditch last season with the San Marcos Sharknados as a beater. She has worked with the Quidditch Post in social media, and also with Major League Quidditch, both as a South Divisional Statistics Analyst and as a volunteer with the the team Austin Outlaws.

Currently, she is a senior at Texas State University-San Marcos majoring in English with the eventual goal of a Master's in English Writing and Rhetoric to teach at the community college level. She does other sports journalism, mainly European football. Soukup is also a published poet. Originally from Kansas, she has lived in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland, and now lives in Texas. She has a 4 year old son who is learning how to throw a bludger properly.

Logan Anbinder is entering his fourth year as USQ's Tournament Director Certification Coordinator. In this role, he certifies and trains the tournament directors who are responsible for hosting the league's official matches. Logan has previously served within USQ and the IQA as Marketing Director and the first Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, in which capacity he organized the Mid-Atlantic's first regional championship.
