USQ Update

MembershipUSQ Update

Important League Reminders: September

As the season ramps up, here are some reminders of some key USQ policies.

For more information on various USQ programs, please review the relevant pages on the website, including: the resources pages, gameplay policies, code of conduct, referee information page, snitch information page, and membership team requirements.

Cheating on USQ Certification Quizzes

Any attempt to subvert the 24 hour waiting period when taking Classmarker certification quizzes (including those for referees, coaches, snitch runners, and tournament directors) will result in a season-long suspension of that person’s coach, referee, and/or snitch membership, along with the revocation of all certifications for that season. For questions about USQ’s suspension policy and the Member Code of Conduct, please email Membership Director Eric Schnier at membership@usquidditch.org.

Enrollment Requirement for College Players

Like last season, players on a college team must be students currently enrolled at a university or college, and are required to submit proof of enrollment before they compete in an official event. This season, proof of enrollment must be sent to enrollment@usquidditch.org 24 hours before a player participates in an official game, the same time as the roster submission deadline for an official event. Players may submit either an official proof of enrollment from their school’s registrar or an official class schedule for the current season. Proof of enrollment must include the following information:

  • Player’s full name
  • School name
  • Confirmation of enrollment

ID Cards

USQ is no longer providing custom ID cards to members. When competing at USQ events, players should check in with a government-issued or school-issued ID.

Jersey Number Policy

Player numbers are restricted to integers of three digits or less. Letters or symbols such as pi and infinity will not be allowed. Additional information on the player number policy can be found here.

Bid Allocation Deadline

As previously announced, the majority of bids for US Quidditch Cup for the collegiate and community divisions will be allocated based on the number of registered teams in each region as of September 30 at 11:59pm ET. Unlike in previous seasons, the region’s performance during US Quidditch Cup 10 will not be taken into account. Instead, a system of at large bids will determine the remaining spots. More information about bid distribution is available here.

For the regional spot distribution for the US Quidditch Cup, each team must be registered before October 1, 2017 to be counted.* To register, the $150 team dues must be paid, along with at least seven individual members added to the team. More information can be found here.

*This means that for the purposes of bid distribution, no teams will be counted after 11:59pm ET on September 30.

USQ Grant Program Deadline Extension

USQ is extending the deadline to apply for the three grants offered annually to our official teams. The new deadline for applications is 11:59pm ET on Friday, September 22.

STARTER KIT - The starter kit equipment grant gives one first year team the opportunity to receive a free full set of tournament-ready equipment.

TEAM SPONSORSHIP - The team sponsorship grant allows two already registered member teams to apply to receive free player memberships to fill out the rest of the tournament roster.

COACH SPONSORSHIP - The coach sponsorship grant provides six non-playing coaches with a free coach membership.

Additional information about each of the grants can be found here. Applications can be submitted by email to membership@usquidditch.org.

Player Experience Survey for US Quidditch Cup 11

As announced earlier this week, USQ invites current players and those who competed in past seasons to fill out the US Quidditch Cup player experience survey here.

The goal of this survey is to gain feedback about the afterparty and potential additional offers for players at US Quidditch Cup. The survey will be open until September 30, 2017.
