Florida’s Finest wins South Regional Championship

Florida’s Finest defeated Carolina Heat 200-100* on Sunday, February 12 to take home their second South Regional Championship title in Columbia, South Carolina.

Florida’s Finest went undefeated on day one of South Regional Championship and was the top seed coming out of pool play. They beat University of Miami in the semi-finals, 110*-60, securing their spot in the championship match on Sunday evening. Florida’s Finest ultimately defeated the number two ranked team Carolina Heat in a game that lasted 29 minutes and 50 seconds. The final score was 200*-100. Head referee Ricky Nelson oversaw the final match, with support from lead assistant referee Dylan Meyer. The snitch runner was Lee Hodge.

13 teams participated in the regional championship, which took place at Palmetto Health Fields at Saluda Shoals Park in Columbia, South Carolina on February 11-12, 2017. The final standings are below. Teams in bold are US Quidditch Cup 10 qualifiers. They will be among the 60 teams nationally that have received a spot to compete for the tenth national championship in Kissimmee, Florida over April 8 and 9, 2017.
