US Quidditch is excited to announce that Jillian Flom has been hired as Events Manager and will begin on January 4, 2017.
The hiring process for the new Events Manager began earlier this fall, as announced here. Candidates submitted their resumes and cover letters, and then two rounds of interviews took place with selected applicants.
Jillian Flom was selected for the role of Events Manager from a pool of over 500 candidates based on her experience, skills, passion, and deep understanding of quidditch events. Flom has been involved in quidditch since the fall of 2011, when she played for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and has been volunteering for US Quidditch at events since spring of 2013. Her extensive background in the sport and in quidditch event planning, combined with her volunteer management experience and program development experience, make her a great fit for the Events Manager role.
“I’ve always enjoyed my experiences planning and traveling to USQ’s events as a volunteer and am excited to be transitioning into this new leadership role,” said Flom. “I am very humbled to have been selected as Events Manager and look forward to working with USQ’s staff and volunteers to facilitate events that provide opportunities for competition and community within the league.”
The Events Manager is a full-time role within USQ that reports to the Executive Director. The Events Manager is a key leadership position responsible for supporting the planning and execution of all USQ events and related programs, including nationals and regional championships. In her new role as Events Manager, Flom will focus on event logistics, event volunteers, and general event support and administration. In addition to assisting with event marketing and communication efforts, she will also support the other employees throughout the year.
“Jillian’s experience as a volunteer in the USQ Events Department has been part of the success of our events and the growth of our event volunteer recruitment and training programs. As a volunteer, she’s traveled to many USQ events to help execute the events onsite, and has demonstrated her ability to successfully run events. Her passion for the sport and dedication to events will help us continue to improve the league, and I’m very excited to be working with Jillian as our new Events Manager,” said Sarah Woolsey, USQ Executive Director.
Flom’s first day of work will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
