Dwyer and Dwyer join USQ as Regional Coordinators

Effective immediately, Matt Dwyer and Matthew Dwyer join USQ in the volunteer roles of Midwest Regional Coordinator and Great Lakes Regional Coordinator, respectively.

As regional coordinators, Matt Dwyer and Matthew Dwyer will act as liaisons between USQ members from their respective regions and US Quidditch. Dwyer and Dwyer will relay USQ decisions and explain policies to their teams and membership base, while accurately relaying team concerns and feedback to the rest of USQ staff.

Matt Dwyer is entering his third year as keeper on Kansas Quidditch, and his second year as president and coach of that team. Dwyer is also the photo editor for both The Eighth Man and Major League Quidditch. He has volunteered previously with USQ as a photographer at the last two US Quidditch Cups.

The USQ Midwest region includes the states of Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin .

Matthew Dwyer started playing quidditch at Miami University in Fall 2011. He played there for four years, coaching and captaining three. After graduation, Matthew coached and captained Lake Effect Tempest, and currently plays for Lake Erie Elite. He also played one semester in the United Kingdom with the London Unspeakables, and has played two season with the Cleveland Riff in Major League Quidditch.

In addition to playing, Matthew has held numerous roles in USQ. He served as the Ohio State Representative, a hospitality coordinator for the 2015-2016 season, and was on staff as a hospitality coordinator and Quidditch Turns 10 exhibit curator for US Quidditch Cup 9. Matthew is also a certified head referee and tournament director, and has had a hand in planning, hosting, and volunteering for many events in the Great Lakes region.

The USQ Great Lakes region includes the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio.

“I’m really excited to welcome Matt and Matt to the Regional Coordinator team! Both Dwyers have demonstrated time and again how dedicated they are to this sport and this community, and I think they’ll be a lot of help in their respective regions, both for providing timely assistance and helping make sure teams understand what is expected of them, but also for confusing everybody with matching names, emails, and positions.” said Eric Schnier, USQ Membership Director.
