USQ Update

Mary Kimball Promoted to Events Director

Mary Kimball, formerly USQ's Events Manager, is now USQ's Events Director.

Following the hiring of former Interim Executive Director/Events Director Sarah Woolsey to Executive Director, Mary Kimball has been promoted from Events Manager to Events Director, effective immediately.

“Mary has been an integral part of the success we’ve seen in our events the last year and a half. Her work has helped to streamline and improve all events. Mary’s relationships with our city partners and her dedication to improving USQ programs have benefited the organization greatly, and I’m excited to see her continued success in this new role,” said Sarah Woolsey, USQ Executive Director.

Kimball will focus on overall leadership and administration of all USQ events and event-related programs, such as event sanctioning and TD certification. Event hospitality - including team experiences and spectator activities - will be overseen by Kimball. The Events Director role will also focus on event bidding and expanding event partnerships.

"Events are the ultimate expression of quidditch. They show off our sport to the country, engaging new audiences and getting fans of all stripes hooked. USQ events have a special kind of energy. They buzz with excitement and the thrill of competition. As we go into the 2016-17 season, I'm thrilled to be stepping into Sarah Woolsey's shoes (they're teal, of course!). I love the sport and the athletes that make it great. I'm inspired on a daily basis by their hard work and dedication, and look forward to making events the best they can be," said Kimball.

With this change, USQ will be hiring a full-time Events Manager. The Events Manager will focus on general event support, event logistics, and event volunteers. They will also assist with marketing and communications, but will no longer oversee the communications department, focusing more on a smaller support role within communications. The full position description is available here, and the position is open until September 30, 2016.

With these staffing changes, a few adjustments have been made to the USQ organizational chart (available for download here):

Communications volunteers will continue working closely with the events department on event marketing, but will be supervised by the Executive Director.

Gameplay coordinators will continue meeting with the Executive Director. Since the role of these volunteers is integral to the functioning of the league overall and affects different areas from events to membership, they will be formally located in the Office of the ED.
