Information about the tournament director certification program for the 2016-17 season is now available.
Earlier this month, USQ launched our tournament director (TD) certification program for the 2016-2017 season. In keeping with the league's official match requirements, all official matches must be organized by certified tournament directors.
"The TD certification process is in place for three main reasons," says Logan Anbinder, coordinator of the program. "First and foremost we want to make sure that the people who are organizing USQ's official matches are familiar with our league policies and requirements. We also use TD Certification as a chance to remind tournament directors of best practices for each of the major areas of tournament planning. The last reason we have this program is that it allows us to connect TDs across the country, so they can communicate and share information in order to make each of their events as smooth as possible."
The TD Certification process consists of three steps: signing up for the program, watching an hour-long training video, and completing the TD Certification Assessment with a perfect score. Candidates may retake the TD Certification Assessment once every full 24 hours. For more information, or to sign up for the program, you can visit this page.
Individuals who were certified TDs last season may host official matches this season without being recertified until August 31st. Starting on September 1st, TDs who were certified last year must have successfully completed the new certification process in order to host official matches.
