Salem Pitch Trials: USQ 2016 Northwest Regional Championship Playlist

Okay so maybe it’s not that Salem, but there will still be plenty of broomsticks at the Northwest Regional Championship in Salem, Oregon. And USQ wants to make sure there will be plenty of tunes, too. To sound off the second-ever Northwest Regionals, USQ put together its second Regionals Playlist.

1.     Beat the Sunrise-SNBRN

The perfect song to wake up to on game day. Everyone dreads those early morning alarms and dark car rides to the pitch but just remember: first you beat the sunrise, then you beat your opponents.

2.     Smash Your Head-GirlTalk

This song is not an ode to concussion helmets, but instead a revved-up anthology of some great musical anthems. You could also argue that the mash-up of Biggie and Elton John is just as perfect a mismatch as Harry Potter and athletics.

3.     Get Me Bodied-Beyoncé

While athletes will have to forgo Super Bowl celebrations to secure their Nationals bids this weekend, you don’t have to miss half-time performer Beyoncé entirely. Let her cries of empowerment empower your team to victory. And maybe she can lead your warm-up stretch: Do the scissor leg, touch ya heels, touch ya toes…

4.     I Will Never Let You Down- Rita Ora

What’s stronger than the bonds of Rita Ora and her beau? The bonds of a quidditch team, of course! This song is all about supporting your partners—whether they be romantic or teammates—throughout good times and bad. It’s also just got a fun beat!

5.      I Wanna Get Better-The Bleachers

Of course, we all have taken a misstep or two on the pitch, but that just motivates us to get better. And listen to The Bleachers on repeat.

6.     Cheerleader-OMI

Taking this one very literally, this song is for all those fans on the sidelines. We ‘preciate you.

7.     Space Jam-The Gym Allstars

IF YOU DON’T GET HYPED THINKING ABOUT MICHAEL JORDAN LEADING THE TUNE SQUAD TO VICTORY OVER THE MONSTARS YOU’RE LYING.

Also, there was a largely lauded fantasy team called the Monstars way back when, so this song is fundamentally relevant on multiple levels.

8.     Du Hast-Rammstein

Du you remember this song, you guys? May you be as scary on pitch as an incomprehensible German metal band spouting out “I hate you” over and over again.

 9.     You Can’t Stop the Beat-Cast of Hairspray

This is for all the beaters out there—I see you, I hear you, I serenade you with Hairspray’s greatest hits.

10. Remember the Name-Fort Minor

As arguably the most untested region, the Northwest still has a lot to prove. With the increase in film, livestream, and overall game coverage, there’s no doubt that eyes will be on this regional series. This song is here to make sure Northwest teams show up, and cement themselves as real contenders come April.

To follow the action at Northwest Regionals this weekend, be sure to check the USQ Scores Twitter account. We’ll be sharing results on both Saturday and Sunday.
