US Quidditch is excited to announce that Eric Schnier has been hired as Membership Director and will begin immediately.
The hiring process for the new Membership Director began in the middle of December 2015, as announced here. Candidates submitted their resumes and cover letters, and then two rounds of interviews took place with selected applicants.
Eric Schnier was selected for the role of Membership Director from a pool of approximately 100 qualified and impressive candidates based on his experience, passion, and his acute understanding of the unique needs both of this role and of the league at this point in time. Schnier has been active in the quidditch community since October 2011, first as a player, then as a captain, and finally as a head referee and USQ volunteer since July 2013. Schnier’s extensive background in the sport, combined with his customer service experience and remote work experience, make him a great fit for both the operational and strategic tasks he will have to oversee as Membership Director.
“I am extremely excited and truly humbled to take up the role of Membership Director with US Quidditch,” said Schnier. “I know I've got some huge shoes to fill following Katie's departure, but I'm confident in my ability to not just get the job done, but also to help lead US Quidditch on to bigger and better things. I can't wait to get started!”
The Membership Director is a full-time role within USQ that reports to the Executive Director. The Membership Director is a key leadership position responsible for the recruitment, retention, and engagement of members through two key programs: member services, and education and training. In his new role as Membership Director, Schnier will oversee the programs and services for our member athletes, coaches, referees, and fans. He will directly manage over 30 volunteers through the referee team, the snitch team, the regional development team, and the member services team.
“The growth we’ve had so far within our membership program has been incredible, and I’m looking forward to working with Eric to continue that development, and to expand our member services. Eric is passionate and dedicated, and his experience with quidditch will help us continue to improve the league. I’m thrilled to be working with him as our new Membership Director,” said Sarah Woolsey, USQ Interim Executive Director.
Schnier’s first day of work is today, January 13.
