USQ announces its second referee of the month for the 2015-2016 season: Martin Pyne.
Martin Pyne has been selected as USQ’s Referee of the Month of October for the 2015-2016 playing season. Pyne has officiated at a number of different events so far this season, and is continuously striving to become a better referee. He takes criticism well and solicits it often, and his growth in the past year has been impressive.
This season is Pyne’s fourth year playing for the Silicon Valley Skrewts and his third full season as a quidditch head referee. Outside of quidditch, he enjoys software engineering, reading good science fiction and fantasy, and rooting for the San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks.
Pyne was the September Referee of the Month for the 2014-2015 playing season.
The USQ Referee of the Month program runs in the six months from September to February, with one winner to be chosen per month. The six winners of the Referee of the Month Award will be eligible for the Referee of the Year award and a USQ Quidditch Cup travel grant.
