The Nightmarchers quidditch team, USQ’s only team from Hawaii, has been granted a season play requirement waiver for the 2016 West Regional Championships.
The Nightmarchers quidditch team, USQ’s only team from Hawaii, has begun fundraising efforts and plans to travel to the continental United States this season for their region’s premiere event, the 2016 West Regional Championship. As the only quidditch team in Hawaii, a state over 2,000 miles away from any other state, it is impossible for them to meet the season play requirement for spring regionals. This policy requires that teams play at least five games against three teams in two events before the event in order to be eligible to register.
In lieu of the season play requirements, the Hawaiian team will be making a similar number of documented efforts to play scrimmages and expo matches throughout the state in an effort to expand quidditch in the area. The decision to grant the waiver was made at the recommendation of several USQ staff members, including gameplay coordinators, after consulting with the Nightmarchers.
