Over World Cup weekend US Quidditch will be appealing to thousands of new website visitors and livestream viewers over World Cup weekend to help raise more money for the league and sport.
USQ hopes to build a new base of donors and fans, and generate extra funding to increase the quantity and quality of events and operations.
The goal of the drive is to raise $10,000.00 and will start one week before the event and run through the end of April The campaign will be targeted towards non-playing fans and extended networks, particularly those who visit the World Cup website over the weekend or watch the free webcast. Based on last year’s stats, this will include thousands of newcomers to the sport.
US Quidditch is excited to introduce a new audience to the league’s mission and exciting programming. By making a donation to USQ, webcast viewers will be supporting an organization that governs the sport of quidditch and improves its players and fans lives through sports and social interaction. There are a lot of costs involved in operating a league and providing benefits and services to league members, and funding raised from donations will help to shoulder those, ranging from administrative to events organization.
The campaign will be run through an interface on USQ’s website. USQ will be providing a small thank you token in the form of a commemorative, exclusive USQ World Cup 8 coin (pictured below), only offered to donors who make a gift of $25.00 or more. Potential donors can also make a gift at the merchandise tent onsite at World Cup, in addition to using the online form.
Individuals who want to support USQ’s efforts without making a monetary donation should encourage friends and family to watch the World Cup livestream and follow the USQ channel. Commentators will provide instructions regularly throughout the weekend on how viewers can support the USQ’s mission and vision with a donation, along with updates on fundraising progress.
