USQ will not be hosting QuidCon this summer.
USQ will not be hosting QuidCon this summer in order to focus on conducting an executive search, preparing for fall regional championships, and brainstorming a new structure for potential future QuidCon events.
QuidCon has always been successful in terms of providing amazing programming and education for captains and team leaders, as well as creating strong bonds between teams from around the country. However, it requires a significant amount of human and financial resources and so far has not served enough teams for USQ to continue focusing time and funding on it at present.
USQ staff will instead spend summer 2015 assisting the board of directors in managing the executive transition, finishing the strategic planning process, reviewing and selecting event bids (and beginning planning) for 2015-16 season events, and completing a further review of internal projects and structures to make improvements to both. Additionally, USQ will continue researching physical contact and tackling in quidditch.
USQ hopes to host QuidCon again in future summers, and will be meeting internally to discuss target attendance rates, ways to improve the set-up, structure, and mission/goals of the annual leadership convention.
