USQ is pleased to announce that Michael Clark-Polner has been selected as one of its Referees of the Month for February.
USQ is proud to announce that one of its Referees of the Month for February is Michael Clark-Polner.
Clark-Polner is a non-player referee who resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, most recently playing for Steel City Quidditch Club after first playing at Franklin and Marshall College in 2011. He was first head-referee certified during the summer of 2012 at the Northeast Fantasy Tournament. He was selected to be a Referee Training Coordinator (RTC) last season and is also currently involved in improving referee development and training abroad. So far this season, Clark-Polner has officiated over 70 matches.
“I am honored to have been chosen for this award,” said Clark-Polner. “I would like to thank the [Referee Advancement Committee] for the recognition, and Clay Dockery, in particular, for his help in my development as a referee, answering my questions and providing advice since he first certified me in 2012.”
Along with his position as a head referee and RTC member, Clark-Polner is currently earning a Master’s Degree of Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.
Due to a lack of events in December, USQ is selecting two candidates during February to compete for the Referee of the Year award.
