USQ is proud to announce Oklahoma State University’s Hayden Applebee as its second February Referee of the Month.
Oklahoma State University Quidditch’s Hayden Applebee has been selected as USQ’s second Referee of the Month of February. Applebee was chosen due to the high quality reviews from his peers as well as the amount of games he has officiated.
"Being selected for referee of the month helps solidify that what I am doing is right,” Applebee said. “When you combine a great grasp of the rules and the common sense that comes with being a part of almost every major sport, you get a good referee. I would personally like to thank Amy Kimmel (the coach of Oklahoma State University Quidditch) for pushing me all the time to learn the rules. I will strive to keep getting better."
This is Applebee’s third season as a member of Oklahoma State University’s quidditch team and his first as a USQ certified head referee. He plans to continue officiating as long as he is playing and USQ is proud to grant him this award.
Due to a lack of events in December, USQ is selecting two candidates during February to compete for the Referee of the Year award.
