USQ is proud to present the third Thursday Rundown, part of a series that updates readers on developments and ongoing projects around the league.

Snitch Survey
Snitches and players should keep their eyes peeled for a survey coming next week. The survey will ascertain the availability of snitch runners to attend extra in-person group training sessions leading up to USQ World Cup 8.
USQ Hiring New Officials Manager
Current USQ Officials Manager Brandon Kreines is stepping down this week after being offered a full-time legal position in another industry. We wish Brandon the best and we are now opening his position to applicants with experience in sports refereeing and team/project management. Learn more here.

USQ is teaming up with Get Official to offer a variety of gear for league referees, as well as a discount for USQ members. Learn more here.
World Cup Marketing
The City of Rock Hill and Visit York County are providing significant marketing support for the USQ World Cup 8 event this year. This week an email blast about World Cup and other local events went out to 60,000 locals in the Rock Hill area, and more marketing including flyers, rack cards, local media articles and other major initiatives will be forthcoming in the weeks leading up to the event!

Assistant Event Manager Hired
US Quidditch is excited to announce that Mary Kimball has been hired for the position of Assistant Event Manager. Kimball will start immediately on assisting with planning for US Quidditch World Cup 8. Learn more about Kimball here.
New Gameplay Format for USQ World Cup 8
The US Quidditch World Cup 8, coming to Rock Hill, South Carolina on April 11-12, 2015 will feature a new gameplay structure known as the Swiss format. The new structure will replace the pools section of the tournament with a new pairing structure that ensures each round of matches is played between teams with equal records. As a result, schedules will be more evenly balanced and teams will get one additional game. Read more about the change here.
Northwest Regional Announced
The US Quidditch Northwest Regional Championship has been announced. It will be a one-day event on March 7, 2015 at the Starfire Sports complex – the official practice facility of the Seattle Sounders F.C. – in Tukwila, Washington, just outside of Seattle. To learn more click here.
