USQ Officials Manager Brandon Kreines will be resigning from his position this week after being offered a full-time legal position, and USQ has opened this position for new applicants.
“It is with very mixed emotions that I am announcing that I am stepping down from my role as USQ Officials Manager to pursue an exciting full time opportunity in another field,” Kreines wrote in a statement. “While my tenure with USQ was relatively brief, it was extremely enjoyable. I found the work to be very fulfilling and am honored to have worked for and with such passionate and talented volunteers, employees, and players.”
As Officials Manager, Kreines was chiefly responsible for improving the quality and quantity of quidditch referees, with a focus on overseeing the certification process, training and educating referees, appointing and managing volunteer referee developers, and raising the value of officiating in the community. The position will remain the same for the next Officials Manager, although prior to leaving Kreines has been brainstorming overall improvements to the program with his volunteers.
“I’m very proud of what I accomplished in my time and I believe that the future of quidditch (and quidditch refereeing!) is very bright,” said Kreines. “I intend to stay involved in the quidditch community and with the referee team, and will be assisting USQ through the transition of finding my replacement.”
US Quidditch and its staff and volunteers are very grateful for the good work Kreines has done during his time with the league. “Brandon was just what we needed to jumpstart our referee program in our first year as US Quidditch,” said Katie Stack, USQ Membership & Finance Director and Kreines’ supervisor. “He successfully adapted to many of the unique aspects of this job, and his management skills and previous referee experiences were instrumental in bringing us to where we are today.”
