USQ is proud to present the second Thursday Rundown, part of a regular series that updates readers on developments and ongoing projects around the league.
Weather Policy
USQ is considering and conducting further research on implementing a standardized event weather policy. USQ has previously used weather policies for specific events.
Officials Evaluation System
This fall USQ created an automatic email system to send referee evaluation requests to each team after completing a game. Please be on the look out for these! Evaluations are extremely important to help referees improve and help USQ identify issues in referee development. If you are not receiving the emails or have any questions about referee evaluation, please email brandon.kreines@usquidditch.org
Event Bidding for 2015-17
The bid manual for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons was recently released. Check it out here and learn more about how to ask your city or campus to bid on a USQ event.
New USQ Region
A new USQ Region will be launching in the 2015-16 season: The Great Lakes. The region is made up of three former Midwest states and one former South state. Read more about it here.
Future of World Cup
Starting in 2016 the event name for the US championship will be changed from World Cup to the US Quidditch National Cup. The current World Cup name has been retained for this year out of respect for the event’s history and also due to the fact that the event was scheduled and granted to its city hosts before the new IQA was formed. It is expected that the new IQA will use the name World Cup for future events.
New Teams Welcome Packet
The Teams Department is creating a welcome packet for new teams looking to get started in USQ and quidditch in general. USQ would like to include helpful information like an overview of policies, good financial practices, equipment options, and club management tips. USQ would love your input on items to include in this packet. Please help by filling out this form.
