Maryland Captures Mid-Atlantic Championship

Maryland Quidditch won the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship with an OT victory over the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Henrico County, Virginia.

USQ congratulates Maryland Quidditch on its second consecutive Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship. Maryland was undefeated on the weekend and sealed its victory with a thrilling 160*-150 OT victory over the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC).

The Mid-Atlantic qualified eight other teams for USQ World Cup 8, which takes place on April 11-12, 2015 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. All ten teams, in order of bracket placement, are:

  • Maryland Quidditch

  • The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Quidditch

  • Villanova Community Quidditch

  • University of Richmond Spiders

  • Capital Madness

  • Appalachian Apparators Quidditch

  • George Mason University

  • Penn State University Nittany Lions

  • Wizenmagot Quidditch of VCU

  • Virginia Quidditch Club

The first alternate from the Mid-Atlantic will be Q.C. Pittsburgh, followed by Lock Haven University Quidditch. The full score sheet from the tournament can be found here.

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship was a huge success for the surrounding area of Henrico County, Virginia, with an economic impact of $350,000.
