USQ Referee of the Month Program

The USQ Referee of the Month program runs in the six months from September to February. One winner will be chosen per month, selected and announced within the first week of the following month. The six winners of the Referee of the Month Award will be eligible for the Referee of the Year award to be chosen in March.

Requirements:

  • Must have officiated at least three official USQ matches as a head referee in the one month period
  • Must not have previously won the award within the current season

Evaluated by staff through:

  • Coach feedback
  • Peer referee feedback
  • Tournament Director feedback
  • Player feedback

Feedback can be submitted here at any time.

Award:

  • Photo and biography on the USQ website
  • Eligible to win annual “Referee of the Year” award
  • Paper certificate

 USQ REFEREE OF THE YEAR AWARD

USQ Referee of the Year will be selected from among the six winners of the USQ Referee of the Month award. USQ Referee of the Year will be notified within the first two weeks of March.

Requirements:

  • Won Referee of the Month within the current playing season
  • An individual cannot win the Referee of the Year award in consecutive years

Evaluated on:

  • The number of games officiated in the head referee and assistant referee positions  throughout the season
  • Feedback from coaches, peer referees, and event directors
  • Additional contributions to the sport as a referee ambassador

Award:

  • Photo and biography on the USQ website
  • Plaque
  • Travel stipend for the USQ World Cup*

*Contingent on said referee being willing to attend the event to work as an official only, not as an official/coach or official/player. The travel award will reimburse for tickets and/or gas funding, as well as two nights of reasonably-priced housing (as determined by USQ staff). Upgrade, extra luggage fees, and meals not included. Receipts must be provided for reimbursement. Award not to exceed $1,000.
