USQ is thrilled to announce that Curtis Taylor will be assuming the position of South Regional Director, effective immediately.
“Taylor is highly qualified for the position [because he has] a lot of experience in leadership roles and working in nonprofits,” said Teams Director Alexis Bristor. “He is also very passionate about our sport, [has] a lot of quidditch-specific experience, and his drive to give back to our community is very strong. I am confident that the South will flourish under his direction.”
Taylor, a 2013 graduate of Marquette University where he founded the school’s quidditch team and led it to a Regional Championship in its second year of existence, currently plays for Florida’s Finest Quidditch Club. He has previously volunteered with the then-IQA as the Wisconsin State Representative from 2011, when he founded the Marquette team, until his graduation.
Taylor has spent the past year in his new region as a graduate student at the University of South Florida and felt that he could successfully fill the vacant Regional Director position.
“I applied for the [Regional Director] position because I saw a need for our community to gain structure and a liaison that is knowledgeable about the transition USQ is going through and what is happening in the trenches of the South,” Taylor said.
He has already started setting goals for the region’s expansion and is excited to begin his work as the new Regional Director.
“I'm looking forward to expanding the understanding of the South Region as well as the expansion of quidditch in the South,” he said.
Bristor is elated to have Taylor as a member of her team and eagerly anticipates his contributions.
“I am very excited for the South because Taylor has the potential to be a great leader for the region,” she said. “He has a lot of great energy and wonderful ideas as to how to improve the region, and I can't wait to see him get his feet wet.”
