Representatives from across Europe have been meeting to discuss the future of international play in the area formerly known as the European Region.
Following the transition of the International Quidditch Association into US Quidditch, and the formation of a new IQA, the previous European Region ceased to exist. In response to the call for a second European Quidditch Championship after a successful regional championship event last February, representatives from European nations have met to discuss the future of international play within Europe.
The discussions concluded that a new congress would be formed, consisting of leaders from each nation in Europe with at least one quidditch team. Nations who have more than one delegate in the IQA Congress would be granted a second voice in the European Congress, but would keep only a single vote per country. The European Congress in the 2014-15 season will be responsible for reviewing bids and selecting the tournament committee for the second European Quidditch Championship.
The second European Quidditch Championship, or EQC2, will take place in April 2015. All European teams will be welcome to enter. The location will be decided by the European Congress, but the tournament will be organised by the tournament committee, consisting of:
-Tournament Director
-Assistant Tournament Director
-Gameplay Director
-Referee Coordinator
-Snitch Coordinator
-Marketing Director
-Treasurer
-Merchandise Coordinator
-Team Director
Further details for applications will be released soon. Applicants will apply via a Google form, and successful applicants will be invited to an interview with members of the European Congress.
