USQ Update

USQ Announces International Play Policy

US Quidditch has reached a decision on the subject of cross-border play, as part of the recent league restructuring.

US Quidditch has reached a decision on the subject of cross-border play, as part of the recent league restructuring. Non-US teams will be able to compete in US Quidditch events by registering as full USQ members. The full policy is outlined below:

All teams are welcome to join USQ. These teams may be from anywhere in the world, but will be assigned to one of the US regions based on geography.

Official USQ games may be played by USQ members in a different country so long as all USQ rules and regulations are followed. While teams may play games in locations outside of the United States, USQ may be unable to offer full resources for those games.

Teams located outside the United States will have the same requirements for participation as teams in the United States. They will have to pay the same membership fees, play the same minimum number of games, and meet all other team requirements if they wish to play in their assigned US Regional Championship in order to qualify for the USQ World Cup. These teams will also be subject to the same requirements for player transfers, disciplinary conduct, other gameplay procedures and membership policies.

Players may not play in USQ official games if they are official members of another league unless their entire team is signed up in both leagues, or if a successful player transfer was approved.

USQ will be working with Quidditch Canada and any other relevant leagues to develop an inter-league player transfer policy, which will be published upon completion.

Please note that this policy is designed to regulate official ranked games and tournaments, including Regional Championships and the USQ World Cup. There is no regulation or restriction on friendly (non-ranked) matches or tournaments between teams in different countries. There may also be additional capacity for international ranked games once the new IQA develops its own policies.
