After a year of volunteering with the IQA/USQ, editorial manager Amanda Dallas is departing the organization to work with quidditch blog "the Eighth Man."
US Quidditch editorial manager Amanda Dallas has resigned her volunteer position effective this week. Dallas will assume a similar position with the quidditch blog “the Eighth Man.” USQ Management wishes Dallas the best in her future endeavors and thanks her for her service.
Dallas joined IQA/USQ a year ago and has helped to revolutionize the department in this time. Under Dallas’ guidance the USQ editorial team increased both the quality and quantity of its event coverage. She oversaw the hiring of many of USQ’s correspondents and a department exceeding 20 staffers. Under Dallas the USQ editorial department provided exceptional coverage of all of the 2013-2014 regional championship tournaments.
Dallas’ crowning achievement as editorial manager was over World Cup VII weekend where in addition to playing with the NYDC Capitalists she oversaw a website that garnered in the vicinity of three million hits. As editorial manager, Dallas has overseen the written content on the USQ website and more recently the video department.
Outside of her volunteer responsibilities for USQ, Dallas has been active as a player. She played two years for New York University Nundu Quidditch, and after that co-founded and co-captained the NYDC Capitalists. She recently co-founded the Warriors, New York City’s newest community team where she will begin playing in the fall.
Another editorial volunteer, Beto Natera, southwest correspondent, will also be discontinuing his volunteer writing work with USQ and joining "the Eighth Man" as a volunteer writer there. We are very grateful to Natera for his work for the league and wish him the best in his future work.
Andy Marmer, USQ contributing editor, will be serving as interim editorial manager until a new editorial manager is chosen. Interested applicants may view the job description and apply here.
