US Quidditch is excited to announce that Evan Bell has been appointed as the new West Regional Director, effective immediately. Bell will be replacing Alexis Bristor, who was recently promoted to Teams Department Head.
“It's been a goal of mine for well over a year now to become the West Regional Director, so I'm very excited to finally have the opportunity to hold the position,” Bell said. “I have a very deep love for West region teams--you will be hard-pressed to find someone cheering louder than me when a West team is playing--and am passionate about helping their continued growth.”
Bell has been very involved in the quidditch world for several years and has distinguished himself by his dedication to refereeing and referee development. He also founded and captained the community team, the Santa Barbara Blacktips, which surprised opponents and critics alike at World Cup VII by advancing to bracket play out of a pool considered to be the toughest at the tournament. Bell has already made a region-wide impression on the sport, co-directing the West Fantasy tournament, a 15-team tournament featuring local, national and international players.
Bell is excited about his new position and has already started planning for the future of the region.
“My short-term goals at the moment are to ensure that the region has access to as many USQ resources as possible: World Cup berths, USQ sponsorships, lots of certified referees and [Tournament Directors,]” he said. “In the long term, I hope to assert the West as an even stronger threat on the pitch by facilitating increased gameplay and training opportunities, and well as continue to prove that our region exemplifies sportsmanship both on and off the pitch.”
Bristor is excited to have Bell join the Teams Department.
“I believe that Evan has the passion and drive that will go a long way in making him a good Regional Director,” said Bristor. “Since he started in quidditch he has grown immensely and the one thing that has always defined Evan for me is how passionate he is about our sport. He has the potential to be a great leader for the West, and I am excited to see what he does going forward.”
