The IQA is excited to announce the finalists to host World Cup VII: North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kissimmee, Florida.
The IQA is thrilled by both bids, which feature exceptional facilities, services and financial support. Kissimmee and North Myrtle Beach were the only two cities able to meet the IQA's requirements this year, and we are thrilled by both options and know that both cities could be home to a wildly successful World Cup.
The next step in determining the host will be site visits by Tournament Director Sarah Woolsey, Commissioner Alex Benepe, Chief Operations Officer Alicia Radford, and Event Location Coordinator Joe Pickett. Austin-Tindall Park in Kissimmee, and the soon-to-open North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex will each host IQA representatives in the coming weeks.
Woolsey mentioned her goals for these site visits. “It's about getting a holistic view of the venue,” she summarized.
One important aspect, Woolsey said, is “looking at factors that are going to affect teams' cost and comfort at the event.”
The IQA plans to announce the site of World Cup VII in mid-August.
In addition to the two World Cup bids, the IQA has received bids for the Eastern Canadian, Midwestern, Southern, and Southwestern Regional Championships. These bids are still being evaluated, with finalists being announced shortly.
The IQA is still accepting bids for the Northeastern, Mid-Atlantic, and Western Regionals. More information can be found here.
As the World Cup site visits approach, Woolsey is looking forward to learning more about what each venue would bring to the event. “I think it's really exciting to see cities so enthusiastic about hosting the event and excited to bring their resources together with our resources to create a world-class event,” she said.
