The IQA is excited to announce that Chandler Smith is the new Southwest Regional Director. chandler smith slider Smith has previously served in the IQA as World Cup VI Permit Coordinator. He was also among the first-ever certified referees at QuidCon 2012 and was in charge of gameplay at last season's Southwest Regional Championship. "Since the creation of my team at Oklahoma Baptist University back in January 2012, I've taken every opportunity to express my enthusiasm for the sport, whether it be in playing in tournaments, organizing tournaments or traveling great distances to spend time with my fellow friends at QuidCon or fantasy tournaments," he said. Smith co-founded his team, OBU Quidditch, and expressed his love for the quidditch community. "Chandler is an extremely dedicated individual with an incredibly impressive work ethic," said Teams Director Harrison Homel. "I believe his passion for his region, combined with his management experience, will put the Southwest in an extremely strong position for the season ahead." Though excited about his new position, Smith admitted he was slightly nervous about the responsibility. "It's a privilege and an honor to represent the Southwest Region as their new director,” he remarked. “I have some big shoes to fill with Becca Dupont stepping down, especially since the Southwest has raised the bar for the world to see after bringing home both the [World Cup VI] D1 and D2 titles back in April. Nonetheless, I cannot wait for this next season to start and continue to help foster our growing community." Smith will be looking for new members to join his team in the Southwest, as the IQA is looking for new state representatives in Arkansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma. State reps will work with Smith to help build relationships with teams and organize events in the Southwest. Email humanresources@internationalquidditch.org if interested.
