Since then, UK Quidditch has ballooned. The formal creation of a national organization, soon to be a national league (QuidditchUK), was the first step in further establishing the UK scene. QuidditchUK has made its presence known, organizing snitch and referee training across the UK, and assisting teams in coordinating the first two UK tournaments: The Whiteknights Tournament and The Highlander Cup.
Now, QuidditchUK takes another step forward. On the 9th and 10th of November, 16 teams from across the country will compete for the British Quidditch Cup, or BQC. The tournament will take place in Oxford, reminiscent of the 2012 Summer Games. The BQC will be the first national competition and may in the future become the regional qualifier for the UK region.
The teams competing, as well as the pools they will be playing in, will be announced later this summer. At the tournament, a livestream may take place which will allow the eyes of the world, once again, to focus in on Oxford as UK Quidditch shows its potential.
