From the Space Needle to Pike Place Market, quidditch will soar into Seattle this July 11th-15th for QuidCon 2013 quidcon 2013 slider

A five-day gathering of players and fans from around the world, QuidCon 2013 will feature over two dozen sessions of formal programming, an inter-regional tournament, the Sirius Black Tie Ball, and of course sightseeing in Seattle. New this year to QuidCon is the World's Fair. In keeping with this year's theme of "Your Sport, Your Future," entrants in the fair can win cash prizes for submitting concepts or creations (physical or digital) in the areas of Creativity, Community, and Competition. The Fair is open to all QuidCon participants and entries are due June 1st. Another opportunity that QuidCon affords is the chance to meet new friends from all over the world, outside of a competitive tournament setting. "It was amazing how quickly everyone befriended each other," said Sam Fischgrund of the Silicon Valley Skrewts (Mountain View, CA), about QuidCon 2012 in Chicago. "Quidditch players are kindred spirits." Enhancing the slumber party-like atmosphere of the convention will be informal programming, including rounds of quidditch-themed Jeopardy and the opportunity to swap the ever-popular quidditch trading cards. Caroline Pitt of the University of Maryland (College Park, MD) struggled to recall her single favorite moment from last year's convention: "The massive Cards Against Humanity game that refused to end? The fact that [Alex] Benepe dances just as ridiculously as the rest of us? Getting to meet and hang out with all the people you'd always see at tournaments or online but never really got the chance to speak to for more than a minute?... It's basically like having all your favorite quidditch people come over and talk about quidditch with you for days without the interference of real life." peoplepoints QuidCon is also an ideal event for fans who are new to quidditch looking to get involved in either starting a team or finding one to join. Sessions will include "Quidditch 101" for the administrative side of running a team and "Coaching 101" for the athletic side. Presentations on community and high school teams also make QuidCon an age-inclusive experience. Registration for the event is just $299 total for hotel, transportation, and Saturday's Great Hall feast. Guests can reserve a spot now with just a $25 deposit until June. A local registration package is also available. Interested attendees can email Logan Anbinder with questions about the event or Marie Sperling with travel inquiries. Alexis Moody, QuidCon Media Director, summed up her excitement for what is sure to be one of the most action-packed weekends of the year. "I am so pumped to experience a new city with some of the greatest people in the world!" From the hotel room to the ballroom, QuidCon 2013 is sure not to disappoint. QuidCon 2013
