Currently many players still perform tackles in ways that are dangerous or would be illegal in other sports, and it is our goal to train all of our players in how to safely and properly tackle, and create rules that enforce this behavior. As a first step to making quidditch tackling safer and more effective, the IQA is seeking a tackling specialist to review the current tackling rules and make suggestions for refinements, additions, and specifications.  tackling specialist Photo by Isabella Gong/IQA Staff The position is currently a temporary, volunteer position with the primary objective of creating more specific tackling language and rules in version 7 of the rulebook. If this project is successful, the candidate could go on to be a consultant in developing training videos and in-person tackling clinics for the IQA. Applicants will be working under the IQA's gameplay department and will be expected to submit their work to the gameplay director for approval and incorporation in version 7 of the rulebook. Applicants should have played quidditch for at least one year, and played another tackle sport for a minimum of one year at an organized level (interscholastic club sports or varsity sports only - intramural or pick-up does not count). Football players may apply, but rugby players are preferred. The more experience that the applicant has in tackle sports/rugby and quidditch, the better. Applicants should include a resume that covers academic, working, and athletic backgrounds, as well as a cover letter that includes the following: 1. Problems that the applicant sees with tackling in the IQA currently, both as it happens on the pitch and how it is addressed in the rulebook. 2. Suggestions for how to improve the tackling language in the rulebook, and why they think these suggestions will make tackling safer and more effective. 3. Using explanations of their background and experiences to support their conclusions Applications are due by May 20 and must be emailed to humanresources@internationalquidditch.org.
