Beginning on Thursday July 11th, QuidCon 2013 will swoop into Seattle for five days of exciting programming. Why attend QuidCon? We can give you ten good reasons:

10 reasons slider

1. Prove Your Region is the Best On Sunday at QuidCon, players from around the country will compete for regional supremacy. This is your only chance this year to team up with your regional rivals and represent your part of the world! Is the West Coast really the Best Coast? Or will the Southwest indeed Come and Take It?

2. Just Dance Saturday evening features the Great Hall Feast, complete with a three-course meal. Afterwards is the Sirius Black Tie Ball. Register today to submit music suggestions for the dance!

3. Meet Your Favorite IQA Players and Staffers Outside of World Cup, QuidCon represents one of the largest gatherings of quidditch players. You may see them on Facebook all the time, but QuidCon is a chance to see how much you “like” them in real life.

4. Quidditch Skills Challenge The first official Skills Challenge will take place in Seattle, featuring a competition in position-specific skills. Think your team has the best keeper, or an unstoppable beater pair? Put those claims to the test!

5. Get with the Program(ming) From team leadership and fundraising to safety techniques and incorporating quidditch into your resume, our formal programming will keep everyone informed and entertained. Our full list of 25 individual programming sessions is availableĀ here.

6. Start Training for World Cup The season may be just beginning, but the road to World Cup VII starts at QuidCon, with a Q&A with the World Cup Tournament Director. Learn about tournament procedures and get a jump on the competition!

7. Channel Your Inner Trebek Quidditch Jeopardy returns to QuidCon! Featuring such categories as Quidditch Rhyme Time (“LSU Beater Sarah's shady agreements--” “What are ā€˜Kneiling's dealings?'”) and He's The Alex Who..., you'll be buzzing up a storm! Check out last year's Jeopardy games here.

8.Seattle is Lovely in July The average high temperature is 74 degrees, with surprisingly little precipitation. If you're looking for something to do in your QuidCon downtime, head over to Safeco Field to watch the hometown Mariners play, or perhaps check out Pikes Place Fish Market.

9. Buy Merch Been saving your pocket money all summer for this? Good idea! Our vendors' room will have merchandise from teams from around the league, as well as IQA and QuidCon merch. Stock up on swag!

10. Don't Sleep QuidCon is a giant slumber party, but that doesn't mean there's any slumber. After the programming ends each day, hang out with 100 of your new best friends, playing games and staying up until it starts all over again.

Interested in attending? There are less than two weeks left to register, and registration is open to everyone, whether you're a player, spectator, or new to the game. Sign up here for the con, and feel free to email logan.anbinder@internationalquidditch.org with any questions. See you in Seattle!
