Editor's note: The World Cup Organizing Team has revised the contest rules so that incorporating a bottle into the design is no longer required. For more details, please see the revised bullet points below.
Calling all artists! The International Quidditch Association is collecting designs for this year's WCVI trophies!
Who can enter?
Anyone 17 and older is free to submit designs for a 1st, 2
nd, & 3
rd place trophy series!
What are the contest requirements?
- Contestants will submit sketches/blueprints/designs for three (3) coordinating (but not necessarily identical) trophies that the winning artist will then construct for the D1 & D2 WCVI champions!
- Each trophy should be painted/spray-painted one (1) solid color – gold, silver, & bronze.
- Each trophy must include at least one (1) quidditch-related element – broom, snitch, hoops, etc.
- The cost to produce each series of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies should be no more than $150 total.
- Designers are encouraged, but not required to make their look funky & homemade – keeping with World Cup tradition, designers may consider incorporating empty bottles into the schematics.
- With your design, please submit a detailed construction plan as well as an itemized budget including all materials used in each trophy.
When can I submit my design?
The contest runs from January 28th to March 1
st!
Who will be judging the contest?
Members of the World Cup Organizing Team will judge design entries for originality, creative use of materials, overall aesthetic quality, transportability, as well as timely submission and adherence to the rest of the contest guidelines.
How many designs will win?
Two winners will be chosen to design the D1 & D2 trophies, respectively.
Will winners be paid?
The winners of the Trophy Design Contest will be reimbursed for the cost of the trophies after they have been delivered to WCVI on April 13, 2013.
What do the winners get?
Aside from the honor of designing half of the trophies for this year's event, each winner will receive two (2) free weekend tickets to WCVI!
Submissions and questions should be emailed to
christine.thomas@internationalquidditch.org by the contest deadline.
