Game Play Department revises rankings algorithm

In an effort to improve upon our ranking system, the Game Play Department has made four changes to the current ranking algorithm. They are as follows:
1. As a simple name change, we have changed the name of the variable “C-Stat” to “Unicorn.” There will be no effect whatsoever on the rankings from this change.
2. We have removed two variables from the calculation of the Unicorn variable: the Snitch% and the Strength-of-Schedule variables. We have removed the Snitch% because it was being weighted too heavily and was redundant as it is already being factored in elsewhere in the algorithm. Strength of Schedule was simply moved outside the Unicorn variable.
3. Also within the calculation of the Unicorn variable, we have decided to weight the Win% more heavily than other variables. The reason for this is simple: we wish to give more importance to Win% when calculating a team's ranking.
4. Within the algorithm equation as a whole, we are now multiplying
both Unicorn and SWIM variables by the Strength-of-Schedule variable (previously, SWIM was just multiplied by Strength-of-Schedule). After several tests, we have determined that this will better reflect the true rankings of the teams.
