World Cup Division 2

...

Based on the recent official member survey, we can now announce the structure of Division 2 for World Cup VI. Here is the official structure of D2:
- 20 official member teams will register (first come, first serve) for the World Cup as Division 2 teams AFTER the Regional Championships.
Because the last Regional Championship is the weekend of March 2-3, registration for D2 will open March 9th, 2013 at 6pm EST (which is 3pm PST and 11pm GMT). It will be first come, first serve, and will require a monetary deposit. More details on how the process and deposit will work will be released closer to the date.
While D2 will be open for any and every team, please take a moment to remember the directive of Division 2. This division should not end up being a watered-down D1; it should be primarily made up of teams that genuinely identify as D2. Preferably, there should be no “David and Goliath” matches in this division, and teams that had a legitimate chance at qualifying for D1, but did not because of the number of other talented teams in their region, a limited number of spots, etc. should keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to try for D2.
Because registration for D2 is a month before the World Cup, we encourage teams to begin saving money for the deposit, travel, and accommodation expenses now. Due to the limited number of D2 spots, and D1 spots, not all teams will be able to play at the World Cup. If your team ends up being unable to attend in either division, we encourage you to attend the World Cup regardless. Being together as a team, experiencing the World Cup as a spectator and fan, and getting to check out teams from around the world would be an incredible experience, and we want you there!
