WCVI Update
by Hannah Lindgren | October 17, 2012
No matter how you want to experience World Cup VI,...
No matter how you want to experience World Cup VI, we have information for you! Teams, see below for registration packages and deadlines. Spectators, find out about the different types of tickets you can purchase, and what accommodations you can choose to utilize! Interested in volunteering? We've got that too!
TEAM REGISTRATION
Registration will be a little different this year, due to the regional championships acting as qualifiers for the World Cup. All accommodation packages may be booked through
All About Group Travel (AAGT). Please note that ALL teams, even those that do not qualify to participate in the World Cup, may take advantage of this package offer. Accommodation registration will officially be open starting November 1st.
If your team qualifies to participate in the World Cup, you will be contacted by the World Cup Organizing Team (WCOT) after your regional championship is over and asked to confirm whether your team is attending by no later than ONE WEEK after your regional tournament. The player fees, payment schedule, and roster information will be given to you at that time.
Questions? Contact Marie at marie@allaboutgrouptravel.com.
ACCOMMODATION REGISTRATION:
- The team chooses which hotel they would like to stay at and they fill out the registration form.
- Once AAGT receives the form, the team will get a confirmation email.
- Hotels will be given on a first-come, first serve basis based on when the DEPOSIT is received.
- Packages include:
- Hotel
- Breakfast
- Transportation to and from airport
- Transportation to and from field
- World Cup player wristband
- World Cup water bottle
PAYMENT:
- Payments can now be made by credit card, electronic check, or PayPal online right on the AAGT website.
- To make those payments, teams have to add a 4% fee to the payment.
- They will also accept checks, money orders, wire transfers, and deposits via a Chase bank account.
- Each person can make their own individual payment if necessary, however, AAGT would need a list of names from the team captain first in order to keep track of who has paid and who has not. It is recommended that team captains collect the money from their teammates and submit one payment.
- Teams staying in hotels have their $25 per player tournament registration fee added to their hotel booking fee so it is all paid at once.
- Local teams not staying in hotels will pay the $25 per player tournament registration fee separately.
TRANSPORTATION LOGISTICS:
- Airport
- Chartered motor coaches will make continuous runs between the airport and the hotels.
- The airport is approximately 30 minutes from the hotels so the shuttle will run approximately every hour.
- Some teams may have a waiting time at the airport but an AAGT Representative will be there all day.
- Teams with strange schedules (i.e. they come in on Thursday evening instead of Friday) will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but will be accommodated.
- Field
- Motor coaches will take the players to/from the field.
- Breakfast times will be scheduled in conjunction with shuttle departure times.
- At the end of the day, there will be enough coaches to take everyone back to the hotels at the same time with no waiting.
TICKETS AND PRICING
Tickets will officially go on sale sometime in November.
Prices are currently set at early bird discount and will increase by $2.00 starting in 2013, and then $2.00 more for at-the-door sales. The VIP pass price will remain constant.
IQA official member prices apply to official member teams ONLY, and this includes any official member team, whether they qualified for World Cup or not. It does not apply to players competing in the event, who will register separately. Teams are limited to 21 discounted non-event participant tickets. These tickets must be utilized by players ONLY, not family members or friends, and will not be available at the door. More information on the logistics of purchasing these tickets will be released at a later date, and will involve a special discount code for that team only.
Day Pass
- Adults: $14.99
- IQA official members: $9.99
- Youth (12 and under): $7.99
Includes access to one event day of the ticketholder's choice. This includes all games on Saturday, April 13th, 2013, from 9 AM - 10 PM OR all games on Sunday, April 14th, 2013, from 9 AM - 6 PM (when finals are scheduled to end). Ticket holders will receive a wristband at the gate that corresponds only to the day they arrived on, and must retain their ticket stub.
Saturday's matches include pool play for all of the teams, with continuous games running on all nine fields. Sunday will see fewer teams playing, and a move to single-elimination. However, Sunday also includes the quarter, semi, and finals on the championships field. Seats for these matches are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so seating is not guaranteed at the final matches, except for VIP customers. The IQA will do its best to keep guests updated with the actual number of seats available versus ticketholders, and bring in extra seating if possible. Standing room will certainly be allowed wherever possible.
Tickets include access to a "kidditch" field (where kids and young adults may sign up to play in scrimmages), any live musical entertainment or other spectacles, the merchandise/vendor village and multiple local food options.
Weekend Pass
- Adults: $24.99
- IQA Official Members: $17.99
- Youth (12 and under): $11.99
Includes discounted access to BOTH event days listed above, and everything that is included in those days, such as entertainment, kidditch, food and merchandise vendor access, and other sights and sounds of the World Cup.
VIP Pass
This year the VIP experience will be orchestrated by a professional VIP event services company. It will include the following benefits:
- complementary priority parking.
- Reserved front row seats at every field (to be filled by VIP customers on a first-come, first-serve basis). Guaranteed front row seating at the Championship match.
- An air-conditioned, tented VIP area, in proximity to one of the prime fields (details on accommodations inside coming soon).
- Other complementary items to enhance the World Cup experience, details to be released later.
- Indoor, air-conditioned bathroom facilities at the Austin-Tindall Clubhouse.
THE WORLD CUP AFTERPARTY
This year, to celebrate the end of the World Cup, the IQA and the Kissimmee Convention and Visitors Bureau are teaming up to present one of the most exclusive afterparties in quidditch history.
We aren't allowed to tell you exactly what it is yet (although we bet you know exactly what we're talking about), but it's going down from 7 PM - 11 PM on Sunday, April 14th, at an amazing venue that will only be open to IQA players and fans. In other words, hold off on buying tickets to anywhere other than to the World Cup itself, and make sure you're staying through to Monday morning!
