Grants

US Quidditch is proud to be offering several grants for our members. Grants will be awarded within two weeks of the application deadline. Grants offered by USQ are funded through fundraising efforts done by the organization throughout the year. Questions about this year's grants and the grant process can be directed to strategicplanning@usquidditch.org.

Current Grants

TEAM MEMBER GRANT

The Team Member Grant is available for ten USQ member teams. This grant covers the team registration fee and nine individual player memberships valid for the 2021-22 season (value of $880). Applications are due by April 1, 2021. The awarded teams will receive redemption codes to purchase these memberships for their team in the new season.

LET THE KIDS PLAY EQUIPMENT GRANT

This grant, led as an initiative from the USQ Board of Directors, will provide a new set of hoops for five developing college or youth teams (value of $250). With COVID-19 having an impact on new team development, any unawarded funds remaining from this year's grant will be added to next seasons Let the Kids Play grant offering. The hoop supplier will be Shooty Hoops Supplies, which is owned and operated by Matt Melton and Krystina Packard.

BIPOC Membership grant

This grant is available to 51 individuals. This grant covers the player registration fee valid for the 2021-22 season. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. They will be reviewed the last week of each month. The awarded individuals will receive redemption codes to purchase this membership.

Grant FAQ's

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Team Member Grant: Any team who was registered with USQ for the 2019-20 or 2020-21 season.

Let the Kids Play Grant: Any newly formed 2019-20 or 2020-21 season team. They can be official, unofficial, or youth level.

Teams that have already received a member grant from USQ within the previous two seasons are ineligible to apply.

BIPOC Member Grant: Any Black, Indigenous, and/or person of color who joined their current division of USQ during the 2021-22, 2020-21, or 2019-20 season is eligible for the BIPOC grant. If you have already purchased a USQ membership for the 21-22 season, you are still able to apply for this grant. If selected, you will be refunded your membership fee.

  5. How will an opportunity to receive a grant for your team further the development of your team?
  6. What steps has your team taken to implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within your team? Are there any steps your team has taken to help implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for the quidditch community overall?
  7. Option to email a letter of recommendation to strategicplanning@usquidditch.org 

Let the Kids Play: The following questions will be asked on this application form:

  1. Contact info
  2. Details on your team status for the 2019-20/2020-21 season & plans for the 2021-22 season
  3. When was your team formed?
  4. What inspired you to form this new team?
  5. Please express why your team is interested in this grant. What is the need for your team?
  6. What is the financial situation for your team this upcoming season?
  7. How will an opportunity to receive a grant for your team further the development of your team?
  8. What steps has your team taken to implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within your team? Are there any steps your team has taken to help implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for the quidditch community overall?
  9. Agreement to returning the hoops to USQ should you receive the grant and then your team folds after one season.
  10. Option to email a letter of recommendation to strategicplanning@usquidditch.org

HOW ARE APPLICATIONS EVALUATED?

Team Member Grant: Complete applications will be evaluated and awarded by USQ leadership. Member services department members and other USQ staff will also consult on grant applications.

Let the Kids Play Grant: Equipment grant will be evaluated and awarded by the USQ Board of Directors. Member services department members and other USQ staff will also consult on grant applications.

BIPOC Member Grant: Complete applications will be evaluated and awarded by USQ leadership. USQ staff will also consult on grant applications.

HOW many grants can a team apply for?

Teams are welcome to apply for more than one grant opportunity.

additional grant programs

EVENT SANCTIONING GRANT

Due to COVID-19  event sanctioning grants are not currently being offered.

To apply to have a tournament sanctioned by USQ, a USQ certified tournament director must submit an application no later than one month in advance of the event, though applications received after that point will be considered on a case by case basis. After submitting the form below, the TD(s) will receive an email to set up an interview with USQ staff. The interview will take 30-60 minutes and consist of reviewing the application and event, going over the event sanctioning program in general, and answering any questions the TD(s) may have.
