Effective immediately, Christian Barnes will join USQ in the volunteer role of Northeast Regional Coordinator.
As regional coordinator for the Northeast region, Christian Barnes will act as a liaison between USQ and Northeast region teams and players. He will relay team concerns and feedback to USQ staff, while helping answer questions and explain league policies to players.
Barnes started playing quidditch during pick-up matches in New York City’s Central Park about four years ago. He joined the Macaulay Marauders under the leadership of Shenuque Tissera and Jenna Jankowski, and continued on to lead the Marauders as captain and most recently, coach.
Barnes credits current and past volunteers like Katrina Bynum, Ricky Nelson, Jeff Sherman, and Jayke Archibald with his development as he visited fantasy tournaments, learned to referee, and snitched to engage with quidditch as more than just a player. Barnes hopes to encourage improved and more frequent team-to-USQ contact.
“The quidditch community has helped me through some of the worst years in my life and lead me to some of my closest friends,” Barnes said. “I'm grateful for the opportunity to give back even an ounce of that!”
He recently graduated from Hunter College in New York City and wants to be a teacher.
The USQ Northeast region includes the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Barnes may be reached by emailing email@example.com powered by Disqus
