Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Weightlifting, and Hank Dugie, a real estate agent and long-time player, have joined the USQ Board of Directors, effective January 2017.
Phil Andrews and Hank Dugie were selected as part of the Board’s efforts to recruit talented, passionate, and experienced individuals. More information about the board recruitment efforts can be found here.
Andrews is the CEO & General Secretary of USA Weightlifting. Born in Great Britain, he has a background in professional ice hockey, commercial student housing, the fitness industry, and higher education. After managing the United States Olympic Committee’s London base for the 2012 Olympic Games, he joined USA Weightlifting where he has helped increase membership by over 15% each year, and grow their events and organization to be amongst the finest national governing bodies for weightlifting in the world.
"Thank you to the US Quidditch organization for giving me this opportunity to contribute. I hope that together with board colleagues we can help support Sarah and her team to mature this fast growing sport," said Andrews.
Hank Dugie works as a Commercial and Residential Real Estate Agent in League City, Texas where he also owns and runs a landscaping and construction business, and serves on City Council. He volunteers his time to a number of local nonprofits including Lions Club and Anchor Point, a family counseling center. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2013 with a degree in Economics, in addition to a quidditch world championship title as a member of Texas Quidditch. Since then, Dugie has remained a player and been critical in founding, coaching, and managing a number of teams.
"I'm excited to join the team… Thank you to all of the staff, volunteers, and players who have made quidditch the competitive sport it is today. I look forward to helping USQ continue to provide great services so future generations of players can reap the same benefits the sport has allowed me,” said Dugie.
Andrews and Dugie have joined the Board of Directors effective January 2017.
Additionally, Matt Hayden has stepped down from the USQ Board of Directors.
